Fela Kuti - Music is the Weapon
Composer, Afrobeat pioneer and human rights activist, Nigeria’s Fela Kuti (1938-1997) is often described as the African Bob Marley.
In 1982, Fela discussed his life and work and performed some of his
influential songs for this documentary by Stéphane Tchal Gadjieff and
Jean-Jacques Flori. Both a fascinating profile of a great artist of
modern Africa and an exploration of the political context of his work,
MUSIC IS THE WEAPON features Fela performing some of his best-known
songs, including “ITT,” “Army Arrangement” and “Authority Stealing.”

May not be shown
The last I heard this film may not be shown because a copy of it hadn't arrived from Cinema Politica.
If anyone is able to get a copy of this then that copy could be shown, otherwise -- if a copy isn't found -- something else will be shown instead.
Cory Morningstar from the Council of Canadians has been handling these screenings, but if you can get a copy, you could also let me (tblack2 at uwo dot ca) know.
Very exciting...
Thanks for posting this, Toban. I'm a huge fan, yet have never seen this film. I hope people make the effort to check this out.
