London Commons Meeting September 6 2006

12:10pm meeting begins.

Dan has suggested we clarify our mission statement. “We need a very focused vision of what the set goal of the group is”.

-If we are going to be a Coop, then we have to clarify what the services are we are going to offer.

-What are our goals?
-Incorporation... Goal is to be incorporated by the fall (?)
Jeremy would like to see the LC be a coop that is an incubator format. Also to provide alternatives services that currently exist. This is a long term vision.

Dan- should specify what types of services. - Media oriented services. Short term visions?

What is our immediate focus?

Jeremy is concerned that focusing on media oriented (ie. internet based) services will rest on the shoulders of him.

Mission Statement-

Dan has offered to post a rough outline of what the mission statement should be. This will be enhanced by users.

Needs to be focused on short term but include long term goals (two/three sentences)

Ideas – Incorporation (Service Coop?)soon.

Computer repair – other companies charge a flat rate for different services. (Geek's R US – chrges $129 per service{arm and a leg}

Jeremy has suggested using this model at extremly competitive prices

In addition, adding a certain percentage of sales to the LC account

Web services – hosting of sites and email addresses. Design that uses Drupal.

 
Site Use – Most significant number would be the file transfer usage. July was at 2 GB and August used 9 GB of our 10 GB allotment

Free Wiki

Needs to be accessed more. Last meeting most tasks revolved around the Free Wiki(FW) site.

Next meeting – We should have an account with FW and be familiar with the site. If possible have the knowledge to alter and enhance current goals/objectives. Simple typing of text and save will alter site.

Type of Cooperatives

Review the document on the Org. Dev't Thread. This hinges on the Mission statement.

For next meeting; fill out the Co-op self assessment PDF. Bring to next meeting.

Definition of Working Group

In order to move forward on the Org. Dev't work we need to solidify what our organization is, where we are going and how we are going to get there.

Finances

A fund raiser was organized by Jen Pastorius for the LC. $190 was raised and will be added to the account. The previous amount was $201.33. The total with added funds is $391.33.

Summary

Review last meeting 'todo' list. Fill out coop assessment PDF. Review FW site.

Jeff will have the Ontario Coop Association task list to continue with our development as a coop
