Jeremy, could you...
Submitted by Mike McGregor on November 10, 2006 - 9:04am.
would it be possible to add a field in the "favorites" section of the user profiles for websites? and could the entries be entered as links? and could it be possible to set up text links similar to the way it's done in the text editor, so that link can be shown as either the actual URL or a more descriptive title?
I know that there is a field in the "about me" section, but you can only link one site there.

yes
Yes Mike, that is possible. Right now TinyMCE (the word processor type interface for posting comments) is disabled for changing your profile because of a bug. I can't remember what exactly the bug was, but having TinyMCE turned on in the profile editing section messed something up.
I'll need to experiment a bit to get that working. Until then, people would need to use HTML tags to create the links (e.g. <A HREF="http://londonontario.indymedia.org">London IndyMedia</A>). If people forget or did not know how to use HTML tags to make links, the sites wouldn't be clickable and people would have to copy&paste or retype them.
By the way, as a consequence of Rachel being the user moderator (she has the responsibility of contacting users suspected of using fake names and can block accounts) she is able to add new fields to user profiles. Rachel can even add new categories for profile files (e.g. in addition to the current about me, favourites, barter and security categories).
In other words, if people want more things to enter about themselves in their profiles, Rachel can do it.

websites
ok, well..
I tried to do what you were asking mike,
he closest I could do until the TinyMCE problem is fixed, is to create another section called "websites", or something like that, and have several URL type fields available.
what do you think??
I am very excited about being able to create new categories in profiles, so if anyone has any suggestions...let me know.
