new solar cell technology
stumbled on this article, a Korean Research company has discovered a solar cell thats significantly cheaper than exsisting technologies.
It states "Existing solar cells that use silicon semiconductors cost US$2.30 to generate one watt of electricity, which is three to 10 times higher than the production cost of thermal or hydro power. The new plastic solar cell costs just ten cents per watt. "
summary (US $/watt): current cells $2.30/watt, new cells $0.10/watt .. holy crap!
the article goes on to say that they're confident they'll increase wattage by 15% very soon.
This is pretty big news in moving away from our dependency on fossil fuels. It was even worthy of a write up in Science Magazine (tried to link to it, but it requires a membership to access the article).

wow..
I can't understand how this isn't being discussed, or looked at... This sort of stuff is what the world needs to get past fossil fuels. by taking the price down this far, it means that communities can easily impliment a solar energy production system.
