asked for some help from sky dragon in hamilton
Hi everyone,
We've really been dragging our feet on incorporating for a long time. I don't know if I have it in me to be the primary organizer behind our drive to incorporation as a cooperative, but I do want to get the ball rolling.
I sent the following email to admin@skydragon.org (the contact email for the Sky Dragon Cooperative in Hamilton).
Hi,
I'm with a group in London called the London Commons. We operate a
website (http://LondonCommons.net/) and have been planning for a long
time to incorporate as a cooperative. After incorporation we want to
start offering other services and products, with the idea of spinning
most of them off as their own cooperatives. The big problem is that none of us involved know anything about
starting a cooperative. A bunch of people have come to our meetings
offering to take over this part of the organizing, but it's all been
fruitless this far. And right now we're growing a lot and there's
possibly a duplicate of our site/organization starting in Ottawa... so
basically we need to get structured quick! My friend Alex was living in Hamilton for a bit, and he another LC
organizer (Jeff P.) visited the Bread and Roses Cafe. They suggested
that I contact you for help getting incorporated. If you guys are interested, I'd like to bring one or two LC organizers
down to Hamilton to learn a bunch about cooperatives from you. It
might just be the shot in the arm we need to get ourselves
incorporated. If anybody from your group with coop organizing savvy
feels like a trip to London, we can put them up too if that works
better.thanks and cheers,
Jeremy McNaughton for the London Commons.
I'll bring this up at the next meeting as well. Please attend the meeting or get in touch with me if you'd like to visit Hamilton and help get the incorporation ball rolling.
Jeremy

nice. I think it would
nice. I think it would be great if we could get someone from skydragon out this way (perhaps under the auspices of PIRG?) to run a couple of workshops on co-op organizing and such..
