What are the plans for the festivals in the summer?

LWAC and festivals

Heya,

As an LWACker, I contacted the RSF with the idea of setting up a booth or workshop. They responded positively and are really open to anything that we would want to do. Now the real thing to work on here is that we need people to really come together with solid ideas and (wo)man power. If anyone's interested, just give a shout whether on the commons or through the email list. As for other festivals, I think the fees are something that might hold us back at this tender stage.

Thanks for posting this, Elisha; hopefully, it will foster a discussion. I'm trying to organize a meeting space for next week to discuss "stuff". Thanks again for taking the iniative to contact Andrea and to post this information. my own festival

of bikes, or rather bike.. I will be on my bike the festival season, thats the only plan I have. I will have my own little festivals in between these "real" festivals.

on a side note, I think we should have a campaign to change the names of all festivals involving the likes of Kim Mitchell, David Wilcox, or other "great" canadian celebs to a generic more fitting name like "MULLETFEST!", and "MULLETFEST x2!" and so on, until the end of the year.

Thats great! Do you already have tickets? I went last year with Chuck, my sister Jen and Mike. It was a ton of fun.

I was refering to the London Womens Art Collective and securing a booth or a space somewhere in the park to sell artisanry. I think there was some talk about this being a possibility a while back. It is a good opportunity for exposure considering there is a festival almost every weekend in the summer. If so, how are you getting around the enormous cost of renting a space?

I really like the idea of LWAC having a booth at a festival or two. I think that it would be great to get some real art out there and being seen.

I would be willing to participate, depending on the timing of said festival(s), as I'll not be in London for two months.

When we were kicked out of Sunfest many years ago for handing out Indymedias for free, we just moved to the sidewalk and handed them out to people coming and going. Perhaps a flyer or something?

There's no real difference between those in power and those who seek it.
