Facist North America begins at Montebello

tags:

It is profoundly disturbing that Stephen Harper, George Bush and Mexican president Felipe Calderon are able to shape North America as if it were their own personal clubhouse with an overwhelming majority of dissent among their own people. North America IS run by the Corporation, headed by three of the worst human beings on the planet.

I want to say thanks to the people at Montebello today and the Londonners who are drawing attantion to the SPP here at home.
We must all become active citizens to ensure that these governments do not remain in power in the near future. The US and Mexican elections were stolen. If all of the brilliant and passionate protesters and activitists would want power enough to go into politics and "smoke em out" of their own holes then we could stop this awful regression into neo-conservativism.

progressive north america begins at montebello!!

I was rather depressed when i wrote the title of my blog: now I think I should have focussed on the fine efforts of the protesters: so here's my thanks again. You are all responsible for the progress that will occur to defeat the bullshit that these 3 dummies are dishing out at Montebello. I hope its going alright over there....

true dat

hi all

I used the word "begins" in hopes that this event will mark a mass understanding or realization of just how serious the situation is: especially for canadians and mexicans. Also, I need to acknowledge that Neo-conservative values and ideas have been in employ for many decades, but as the politically-aware and critical and active citicizens that we are, words like these need to be recognized(more importantly understood)  by the masses.

The work done by the early communists and socialists in Canada such as Tommy Douglas is directly responsible for the social resources we have today as Canadians. Just as those protesters at the front lines and those talking to the (not so great) media are the reason why change will happen in the future. Thankfully we live in times where the masses have access to knowledge and information, where in the past communism was whispered on the wind and therefore misunderstood and villainized. I feel strongly that words such as Fascism and Neo-Conservative must be used, explained and taught in order to prevent misunderstandings. Misunderstandings are especially bad for those Troops on the forntlines at Montebello who can be perceived as irrational. In fact it is they who will bring about change, and they who will be praised at a further point, again, in the future, by the masses. Fortunatley there are a good deal of activists, professionals, business owners, workers, artists,  mothers, fathers, and academics who understand the importance of these matters now, who live free of the fear of persecution for their beliefs in comparison to the early communists and socialists.

Be clear on terms

If you want to be clear, then use terms correctly.  We are not living in a facist state in Canada, nor is the US, according to the definition of facism.  Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facism.  We have a democracy, all previous facist states have been dictatorships.  Thus your use of the term facism is nothing more than an attempt to build a strawman of our current state so you can tear it appart.  Tell me, when the Liberals were in power, and stealing our money, was it a facist state then?  Or is it only because currently it's a Conservative (minority) government?  And what about provinces?  Are they facist sub-states too?

Now for communism, you need to be more specific as there are many brands of communism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism.  Thus are you suggesting a dictatorship state here in Canada?  Stalinist, Moaist, Marxist?  What?

Corporate Fascism

"Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power."

--Benito Mussolini, Italian Duce

Two of the great political philosophers of our time, Noam Chomsky and John Ralston Saul, have both given lenghty arguments about what they call "corporate fascism". Saul's book, "The Unconscious Civilization", is essentially that. The book sprung out of his 1996 Massy Lecture Series of the same name and makes for a incredible read - read it when I was 17. They usually have copies at City Lights.

Chomsky

Why am i not surprised you would use a far left activist, who feels all workers are just slaves, to support your position (funny though that he relies on these working slaves to survive buying food and clothing etc from stores employing these people).

You may be suprized to read this however.

alright

On Communism: I was simply drawing attention to the fact that many of the early Socialists and Communists in Canada (who were often extredited or jailed) were responsible for initializing processes that have lead to social and public resources. I don't see why you want me to discuss different type sof communism, I felt that this point would be interesting to research and not the point of my arguement. I am suggesting a Conservative dictatorship in Canada.

Do you feel this is democratic: priminister Harper aligning our country with the democro-dictatorship of the US and the dictatorship of Mexico, in order to advance toward a super-country unified based on trade with Mexico and its fine hard working starving citizens and the US, with the national currency: the Amero, I don't!

This is facism because it is happening without the consent of Canadians themselves. As far as the Liberals, I don't know how to sum that up, I do not pretend to understand all of these issues. Everyone takes shots at the liberals for stealing money (and rightly so) and the NDP for apparently screwing things up when they were in power. My concern here is for the approaching facism. ANY WORLD LEADER TO ALIGN HIM/HERSELF WITH PRESIDENT BUSH, especially at this point in history, is going to do far more damage than what the other parties have done.

by the definition given on wiki:

Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers individual and other societal interests subordinate to the needs of the state, and seeks to forge a type of national unity

how is Harper considering the needs of the individual, average Canadian as above the needs of the state?

if so, what individual does he care about? Prorobaly not the teacher, the nurse, the First Nations person, or many more who feel that this government is doing swift damage to our country.

last note: the SPP agenda is to unite these three diverse countries for trade and business. This is not democractic. In fact by definition it is facist: "to forge a type of national unity", hence the Amero.

"I am suggesting a Conservative dictatorship in Canada. "

Funny, as when the Liberals, oops sorry, Fiberals, were in power I used to say that.  That Canada was an elected dictatorship.  And in a sence it is.  As when governments have a majority they pretty well do what they want, and wait for the consequences in the next election.  But that is the key that separates us from dictatorships.  We still have elections.  Hence by definition we are a democracy.

We are also in a minority government so Harper (and I've met and talked to the man many years ago, real nice guy and smart too.) can't just do what he wants.  I'm hoping for a majority for him next time. (do you really want Dion to be PM!!!  I DONT!)

"Do you feel this is democratic: priminister Harper aligning our country with the democro-dictatorship of the US and the dictatorship of Mexico, in order to advance toward a super-country unified based on trade with Mexico and its fine hard working starving citizens and the US, with the national currency: the Amero, I don't!"

Hmm, how to answer that one.  Well, we do have a welfair state so people starving should not be an issue in this country.  But there are people who definitely go without.  No one said the system was fair.  I'd be the first to admit that it isn't.  But at the same time I do not agree with the state "carrying" for us from crattle to grave.  I would never want to put my life into the hands of a bunch of morons running government telling me how to live my life.  I also believe in working for what you want, not handed things freely.  Entitlement?  You bet.  If I work long hours and have the money from working those long hours then I *AM* entitled to buy what ever I want with it.  And me doing so keeps people employed.

But super power status?  I have a theory.  They are trying to keep China from becoming one (and they will loose).  There is no doubt that China is positioning itself to replace the US as the world's super power (and we all here can be blamed for that, as just about everything you buy is made there).  If China becomes world dominating your focus will definitel change to them.  Except they do throw people in jail and torchure them for what they say.

Bush will be gone in less than 2 years.  Once the Democrats get in who will be your whipping boy then?

Depends.  I have a hard time envsioning Hillary winning the presidency - but I guess "whipping boy" would not be appropriate here... besides on many issues (mostly US foreign policy) Hillary is as bad, if not worse than Bush.

I sence in those who continue to use Bush as an agent of their hatred will have a huge hole in their psyche once he is gone.

I really don't want this to turn ugly as other recent threads have so here's my last rebuttal to Wakefeild's comments.

The tone of Wakefeild's last post: "who will be your whipping boy" (suggesting I am an irrational person looking for something to throw insults at?), mocking my concern for Canadians and Mexicans by imitating my earlier comments with his own:

"do you really want Dion to by PM: I don't!" etc. (incidentally, I probably would)

I would like to change what I said about a Conservative Dictatorship. Dictatorship is innacuate. I meant to say Authoritarain state. I agree with Wakefeild's concern for definitions. However, I won't discuss this further simply because Wakefeild will attempt to dismantle and I am not up for any useless argueing (it's till summer outside!). I belive that I should have been more accurate with the statement, and I have said enough about it. I'd rather hear from someone else.

Hey everyone: Wakefeild is entitled to buy whatever he wants! The Mexicans (and Chinese) who make it for him are entitled to earn 1$ a day. I am really impressed that he feels so rightly entitled to the world and what it offers the selected few people like himself. Entitlement is awesome!!!!!I am proud to be in the entitlement class: oh wait, I'm just a welfare bum!But I can still buy stuff!

On Chomsky: Wakefeild states that Chomsky buys his food and clothes from "slaves". Apparently he's never heard of local produce or Fair trade.

I'm not willing to carry on a discussion with someone who is out to dismantle and destroy ideas, progress and concern for the welfare of those living North america (the topic of the original blog). School's starting in a few days and I gots ta get ready!

I'm out!

begins? really?

Sorry to nitpick, but I'd say that fascism got started a long time ago here in North America.

You're right though.  The SPP certainly does seem to be making things even more fascist.

Thank you for posting this

Thank you for posting this Amelia, I also have been struck by anger for last few days.

I know its a cliche comment, sadly, but I was disguised how the coverage of mainstream meadia lacked insight of the protest.

Apparently, there was an usual provocater hired to create a likable headline of mainstream media such as "protester get violent, throwing rocks..."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=St1-WTc1kow

And Harper thinks it's "sad" that there were only "a couple of hundreds " activists, while they locked themselves in luxurious hotel in middle of nowhere with barbed fence around it.

So offcially, he denied the existance of democracy in Canada...

But at the same time, seeing what goes on there, I feel its truly neccesary that the movement be more localized, rather than everyone converges into one spot, becasue they are smarter now that meeting in urban areas such as Quebec City is dangerous, they will meet somewhere that is geographically isolated so its harder for us to actually distrupt the meeting, so I think we should move away from the idea of shutting the actual meeting down, its nearly impposible.

I would love to organize a debrief meeting when comrades who went there comes back, and also with people who couldn't make it, or went to the demo in London yeaterday, and strategize our future actions, becasue we should keep our fire burnt in our heart, as someone said, "don't mourn, organize!"

In solidarity,

Kota
