switch
I just read something about how the mp3 player needs to be switched to MSC mode? I'm not sure what that is exactly, but you could try that, and see if it has an effect on it working.

is it usb? what happens
is it usb? what happens when you plug it into the computer? does a window popup, or a new icon appear on the desktop? I've mounted a sandisk usb mp3 player with linux before, so its possible to do. my nets not working right tonight, so I can't be too much help.. but when I get to work, I'll do some research on this mp3 player and see if theres something more that needs to be done...also, what distribution of linux is it? ubuntu?
