The spacebucks emails

I'll take some responsability on this one, as its a feature I setup. 

spacebucks for those that don't know, are a new part of the site (v2.0), that tracks user participation and rewards it by using a points system.  everytime you post a comment, blog, picture, login, etc, you earn points.  As it stands this doesn't really have much use, but we're working on ways to develope it into more of a useful feature.. perhaps for contests, user appreciation, ecommerce (perhaps a barter system).. who knows...right now, its simply a fun way to see how you rank in the community for participation (you might also lose points if you don't use the site.. wahaha)..

"Why did I get so many emails gosh darnit?!?!"... well here's the thing.  like jer stated above, we're using a snapshot of the londoncommons.net to develope a new site that will be the upgrade of the commons.  so we basically took a copy of the site a few months ago, and started upgrading and building it to make sure it all works on the final site (the site you're on now)..  one thing that wasn't setup when we started working, was email support for the websites backend.. so I didn't take into consideration that it would hold these emails that some features would try to be sending.

while installing "spacebucks", there was an option I selected, called "email notify", this is the cause for all those emails.  it sends an email to each user when the user earns spacebucks.. not something we really want, but I had it on there long enough for the mistake to be made.. I then ran a script that compiled all the existing users participation, and awarded the right amount of points retroactively (really just to see who ranks the highest... hahaha I won't say who, but its not me).  This was before taking off the email notify feature..

so thats how all of us (me included) recieved so many wonderful emails for things we really didn't care for.  

We've since deleted the remaining emails that weren't sent out, and no more were put into the email queue.  so there shouldn't be anymore as of 0200h friday morning. 

if you still continue to recieve them after a large amount of them came in.. so say you downloaded 100 emails, and nothing for a couple hours, then recieve a bunch more.. post here and let us know that its still an issue..
