The Piano Project: Solo Piano Performances
Paul Collins in Concert
Thursday, April 24, 8:00 pm Lecture Theatre
Many artists who are known for work in one discipline are accomplished in others. In fact, working in other disciplines often influences and resonates in the work for which they are best known. This season, artists known primarily for their visual work but are also accomplished musicians will perform solo piano concerts on the Museum’s historic 1902 O-Model, Steinway Piano.
Prior to moving to Paris in 1982, Paul Collins lived in Toronto where he studied Fine Arts at York University and at the New School of Art. He has worked at the Coach House Press and exhibited his paintings at A Space, YYZ and Mercer Union.
His 144-minute video 24 Hour 3 Stooges premiered at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art in 2006.
Since moving to Paris he has exhibited and performed at the Fondation Cartier, CREDAC, Le Musée des Beaux-arts de Mulhouse, L’Impasse and La Générale. In 2004, he released Wipe Out!, a CD of experimental electronic blues with French composer J. J. Palix.
