National Youth Week-ULTIMATE

ALL OF THESE EVENTS WERE ORGANIZED BY AND FOR LOCAL YOUTH! 

Ultimate Events May 3

Ultimate Downtown Scavenger Hunt
WHEN: Saturday May 3
TIME: Registration – 10:00am. Event begins – 11:00am.
WHERE: Starting at Central Library (251 Dundas St.) and traveling through the downtown core.
COST: FREE

Teams (up to 4 members) will set out from the Central Library at 11am and travel around the downtown core visiting different businesses and organizations collecting clues and completing activities. Teams will wear pedometers as they compete throughout the day. Prizes will be awarded for the top teams. Teams registration will begin at the Central Library (10am) so come on out and participate in this great event.

Ultimate Showcase
WHEN: Saturday May 3, 1:00-4:00pm
WHERE: Central Library, Wolf Performance Hall (251 Dundas St.)
COST: FREE

On Saturday May 3, the National Youth Week committee is going to be holding an ULTIMATE SHOWCASE. We are looking for bands, singers, dancers, and anyone else with a talent who wants to share it.

If you don't want to compete, come and watch! It's going to be a great show.

Ultimate 3-0n-3 Basketball Tournament
WHEN: Saturday May 3, 9:00am-5:00pm.
WHERE: Boys and Girls Club (184 Horton St. E)
COST: $25 per team, teams of 5.
TO REGISTER YOUR TEAM, CONTACT: Fill out this form and return it to the Boys and Girls Club by April 28.

Youth will be divided into two divisions, Division 1 - Ages 13 - 15 and Division 2 - Ages 16 - 18. This tournament includes a Skills competition with prizes to be won throughout the day.

Ultimate Art Show
WHEN: Saturday May 3, 10:00am-3:00pm
WHERE: Central Library (251 Dundas St.)
COST: FREE
TO SUBMIT A PIECE OF ART, CONTACT: artandpoetryevent@yahoo.com or call 519-646-4363 by April 25.

We are looking for pieces of art to showcase – paintings, sketches, photography, sculpture, etc. Artists must be between 13-24 years old. Art drop-off will be Friday May 2, 2:30-5:00pm at the Central Library (Lerner Room). Art pick-up will be 3:00-5:00pm at the Central Library. All artists must sign a waiver upon dropping their art off.

Y-ired Zone
WHEN: Saturday May 3, 3:00-7:00pm
WHERE: Central Branch YMCA (382 Waterloo St)
COST: FREE (with a pass)
TO PICK UP YOUR PASS: You must participate in an ULTIMATE event on May 3! All participants will be given a pass.

Come and use the Sport Wall, DDR (Dance Dance Revolution), Traizer, ping pong, fooze ball, and exergaming equipment for FREE. All youth MUST have a pass in order to come unless you are a member of the YMCA. First 100 youth in the doors will also receive a free YMCA Day Pass to come back and use the facility.

WANTED - VOLUNTEERS
There are many ways you can get involved with these great events:

 1. Join a subcommittee - Ultimate Showcase, Ultimate Downtown Scavenger Hunt, Ultimate 3-On-3 Basketball Tournament, Ultimate Art/Poetry Show, and Promotions are all looking for more help. Come to our next meeting or reply to this post if you want to join up.

2. Volunteer to help out on Saturday May 3. We'll need help with all of the above. You can work for part or all of the day (which will likely run 9am-7pm).

3. Become a NYW school rep. We need people in all elementary and high schools to spread the word through announcements, text messaging campaigns, and handing out info.

You can earn high school community hours for anything you help out with.
