I just heard from my coworker, proud east ender, parent of two Lorne Ave. students and one of the many parent agitators we can be proud to have in the neighbourhood, that the school board has decided NOT to close Lorne Ave. Public School. Apparently they decided to close another school instead, maybe someone might know which one this is, which means another community is losing a vital part of itself. In any event the fate of our dear school has been decided and it's future is saved, well until the next round of cuts come like my coworker said, or until some developers decide they want to buy up some land for another high rise. Anyways i'll try and stop the cynicism there and just say HURRAY! And that there is always public use for public space and that these spaces are the heart of the east end.
