94.9 CHRW's Stories in Sound -- Hear the Winning Entries!
CHRW's first audio documentary contest is over and the winners have been chosen. The 6 member panel judged the entries, which were submitted by Western students, high school students, as well as London and area community members.
In first place is Allison Brown's "Jackie Washington at Eighty Eight," a Canadian folk legend's look back.
The second place winner is Anna AbouZeid, for "Las Chicas del Cafe," about Nicaraguan organic and fair trade coffee growers with a London connection.
In third place is Brandon Hicks for "Pawprints in the Snow," examining cougar sightings in the London area.
Honourable mention goes to Jaymin Proulx for her "Mental Health Documentary" featuring personal interviews with people who live with a mental illness.
Listen to all the winners and submissions on our Stories in Sound website.
