Woodlands not Walmart

Michele Girash sent this out on the LAN. I thought I would re-post it here. Meadowlily is a beautiful place in London used by thousands of people to escape their daily fumbling through our concrete jungle.

Please sign this petition if you get the chance.

thanks

----------------------------------------------------

Meadowlily
Woods
is an environmentally significant area (ESA) in south-eastern
London, situated between Commissioners Road and the Thames River.

http://www.thamesriver.on.ca/Wetlands_and_Natural_Areas/meadowlily.htm

A
parcel of land adjacent to the woods is the subject of an impending
application to rezoning by SmartCentres, to permit development of a
commercial property anchored by a Walmart. The development in question
will involve hardening of large areas of land for buildings and
parking, serve as a magnet and conduit for large numbers of people
whose awareness of and interest in conserving Meadowlily Woods will be
slight at best. It will generate volumes of litter and noise. A
development of this sort would be generally incompatible with
preservation of any ESA, especially one with the unique attributes of
Meadowlily Woods.

Please sign the petition to stop the rezoning at www.PetitionOnline.com/mlily1/petition.html

Trees not Tees

I've noticed a bunch of posters lining Adelaide N. near Windimere that read "Trees not Tees". Does anyone know what that campaign is about?
