The Commons is Changing

birds

Would you believe it? Progress is being made with the design of this site. Slowly, but surely. You'll notice that a lot has changed with this site. Overall the design is new, but the site navigation is still quite similar. The development team hope to make London Commons ever more user friendly. So, everything from site navigation to features will continue to evolve as the development team work at refining the new design, building new layouts and reconfiguring the site's functionality.

Any comments are always appreciated.

Problem with the galleries

I just noticed that the pictures in the galleries seem to be stacked on top of each other. this goes for firefox, safari and camino.

log in block

is there any way that the log in block could be moved to the top of the side bar for visitors who arn't logged in? it would save some scrolling for people and make logging in a simple one-click affair.

Perhaps what we can do is

Perhaps what we can do is place the login block in the header of the page somewhere.  Or, what I'd like to do is to make the current login link in the navigation bar a hoverable drop-down login box.

Improvement

It is a big improvement over the last version, but it still feels a bit underwhelming. It has a lot of the same things the last design suffered from.

Hello John, Thanks for

Hello John,

Thanks for the feedback. If you could elaborate I would really appreciate it. I'm looking for honest criticism. Of course, I must note that the site still remains an evolving process, not really a complete site. Since everyone involved is contributing to this site out of their spare time it's made for some slow progression at times. We're still planning lots of changes. But I do feel confident with this as the design framework from which to build and expand the rest of the site layout and navigation.

Great article

Hi John,

Thanks for the link! Your article has some really good critiques on the design. I think for those of us familiar with the site, the "Mystery Navigation" seems natural now and we forget how frustrating it can be to find content when the links are unclear. It took me a few day to find the link to the recent posts list after the update, until I stumbled upon it (The "Read and Write" link at the top of the page will take you to the Recent post list, if any one is wondering...).

I'd also like to see the login interface at the top of the side bar for visitors who aren't logged in, so that we can quickly and easily log in without scrolling.  But no one can seem to explain to me why the blocks can't simply be rearranged so that it's at the top of the sidebar above the events.

New layout great - but missing an 'u'

The new layout looks amazing! The only 'bug' I see is the lack of an 'u' in neighbo(u)r under the top LC banner. Keep it Candian, eh!?!

Otherwise 10/10!

nice indeed

Yup, Looks good!

Is there any chance that the changes from the April 9 meeting can be implemented along with the new layout? (i.e. the feedback links)
