Help needed - theatre or music experience helpful
Thanks to everyone who showed up at the Unity Project's Anniversary Open House. Fortunately the rains stopped long enough for us to have a great celebration. Matti spun some tunes and everyone enjoyed the barbeque and salads prepared by residents.
We are beginning to prepare for our next couple of events.
First we'll have Up with Art in late November with the location yet to be determined - possibly the Oxford Arms or the London Music Club. Watch for details and a poster.
The other event for which I need some community volunteers will be a new event.
Every year for the last 18 years across Canada, the CBC has sponsored the productions of Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol - a Dramatic Reading of the seasonal tale. These fundraisers have most often supported shelters in many communities across the country. This year (and for years to come, if successful), The Unity Project will be the beneficiary of this fundraiser.
Our event will be held on Saturday, December 13th at the Aeolian Hall. (poster to come later)
CBC's Judy Maddren has sent me a "How To" manual and a script for the production. Because the dramatic readings is done by community volunteers (sometimes celebrity types), at least one radio personality from CBC and is interspersed with seasonal musical numbers by local musicians, we will need lots of help so if you're not afraid of the stage, please get in touch.
Also if you have any directing or production experience, this would be really helpful. I've done it myself before but I know that we will be very busy at the shelter in December with our Santa KnapSack campaign so I really need some help on directing the production.
If you want to get on stage or help in anyway, please get in touch with me at the Unity Project - mailto:dprothero@unityproject.ca
Thanks for your continuing support of our mission,
Deb Prothero

christmas? I don't want to think of winter
We do have some artsy fartsy types on here, so hopefully someone can help you out Deb!
Also, you should put the word out to BEAL.

winter is warm, winter is warm, winter is warm
Hey Rachel;
Just keep repeating this mantra and all will be well!
Does anyone have a contact at Beal?
It would be great to work with students from Beal.
