Nov 10 2008 - 9:00pm
Location:
Wolf Performance Hall in the Central Library

STAND Western invites you to a screening of Darfur Now, a recently
released documentary that focuses on the steps that six individuals
from around the world have taken to effectively enact change with
respect to the ongoing crisis in Darfur, Sudan. The film's emphasis on
persistence is powerful; in effect, the lessons it contains can be
applied to any form of social advocacy.

We
will also be hosting very special guests. MP for London North-Centre,
Glen Pearson, and his wife, Jane Roy- tireless advocates for Darfur,
co-Directors of the London Food Bank, and adoptive parents of Sudanese
children- have kindly agreed to speak. They have been to Darfur, and
have firsthand experience that promises to be valuable learning
material for us all. We will be taking donations at the door, the
proceeds from which will go towards the operating costs of the event
and to the Pearsons’ charitable organization, which delivers aid to
South Sudan.

The Screening will be held on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Wolf Performance Hall in the Central Library. The doors will open at 6:30pm and the event will run until 9:0pm.
