It won’t be long before homes are made Christmas cozy with the scent of pine, the sound of carols and the warmth of family. Old East Village and London residents are invited to celebrate this festive time with CBC radio, Unity Project, the East Village Arts Co-op and Charles Dickens. Now a Christmas tradition across the country, a dramatic reading of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol will be presented at Aeolian Hall on December 13th at 7:30. All proceeds benefit Unity Project for Relief of Homelessness in London, in true Dickens’ fashion.
The Old East Village production of A Christmas Carol features readings by Jeff Culbert, Peter Huggon, Carly Lucas, Patsy Morgan, Claude Pensa, and well-known CBC Radio personality Maureen Brosnahan. Special musical guests include the Junior Amabile Singers, The Light of East Ensemble, and Traddicted.
Since 1990, people across Canada have been crowding into churches and theatres to hear Dickens’ timeless story read by CBC personalities and local performers. Produced in over 100 communities across Canada, the Christmas Carol raises money for local charities such as food banks, shelters, libraries and hospices.

The Unity Project provides emergency shelter and transitional housing accommodations to youth and adults age 18 and over, in a safe, secular, and home-like setting. The shelter is open and staffed 24 hours every day. We offer comfortable dorms for men, women and couples, and we provide a community of support where residents take responsibility for themselves, for each other, and for the functioning of the shelter. Front-line Support Staff support each resident's unique needs and personal growth with one-to-one counselling to establish, monitor and advance a personal action plan, and they facilitate processes of peer support and empowerment.
