A new (or very old) form of alternative dispute resolution: rock, paper, scissors

I guess it's not really news, but I read about it in the news, and wanted to get this forum going.
I just found a story on CNN Money that was linked to by slashdot. It's about a judge in Florida who got frustrated with an endless series of disputes between two lawyers. The judge had to intervene on every single discussion, right down to where to hold a meeting.
Frustrated, the judge ordered the lawyers to resolve the conflict by playing a game of rock, paper, scissors. Apparently this could technically be used as a precendent in American courts.
The story is at http://money.cnn.com/2006/06/07/magazines/fortune/rps_fortune/
