An informative video on how to talk about people's racist statements. I try to apply this method to various situations/topics. Asserting that someone is a racist because they made a racist comment easily sucks the life right out of a political discussion. You should never rant about what or who you think a person is; it's always a loosing battle for all parties involved. You'll get lost in subjective ambiguities, like: "You don't know who I am!" Worse case scenario, discuss the person's perception of the situation as opposed to making claims about their identity. Try talking about what people typically think about as their property (like their perception or their words), and hence, what they believe to have the ability to change. read more »
