Why London Needs Disability Activism

Like many Ontario cities, life in London has its strong and weak points. In many ways London is a great place to live, with a beautiful atmosphere and in there tough times there are still jobs to be found. On the surface London seems to keep up with modern life, but one area it really lacks in is accessibility for people with disabilities.

Location:
Central Library - outside of Little Red Roasters

Hi Everyone

The second general meeting will be taking place on Wednesday November 25th.  We will be discussing ways to take action against snow issues in London possibly a "stuck in the snow campaign", which I'm personally very excited about as well as ways to promote awareness of chemical sensitivities.  The meeting is open to other topics as well.

Once again I would ask that the meeting be for people with disabilities only, but interest and ideas from able bodied people is appreciated.

Have a great day:)  read more »

Disability Action Group - First Meeting EVER!!!

Nov 11 2008 - 5:00pm
Nov 11 2008 - 8:00pm
Location:
Central Public Library - Tonda Room

After being inspired by the previously titled Feminist Act Group (now known as FACT) I have decided to begin an action based group to help promote some much needed disability activism and awareness in London.

For now I would ask that it be for people with disabilities only.  Central Library is a pretty accessible place (I think).  I'm hoping this can be a great group for discussing issues, and creating disability awareness and action on our own.  Come on out!!!
