Blocked and limited accounts

This is a civility warning for Dan H. for his conduct in the post Revolutionary Hip-Hop.

Dan repeatedly posted off topic messages to the thread, and continued to post off topic messages after being reminded that hijacking a discussion is rude.

I deleted the account of the user kelvin for posting spam messages selling cell phones.

The site was also supposed to also delete the posts it made.. it did but the links are still there (ignore them, they'll go away).

I just limited the account of Butch McLarty and removed his post from the front page because it is fairly widely known that Butch McLarty's real name is Barry Wells.

The account will have its restrictions removed and the post placed back on the front page when Barry changes his username (Barry please change your existing account instead of creating a new one).  It's very clear on the account creation page that real names are required on this site.

Also Barry, it's great to see you on here.

Brishen continued to speak off topic in a discussion after several warnings and another user being restricted for the same issue.  This is being done under our policy to limit the accounts of flamers and those who derail conversations.

Brishen will be unable to post new content.  He will be able to add comments to other people's content, but it will sit in a queue until it's approved by one of the moderators.

This will be an agenda item at the next London Commons meeting.  It will take consensus at that meeting (or a later one) for the restriction to be lifted.  read more »

After asking Richard to discontinue his attempts to derail the thread, Confronting Climate Change from the Left and his dismissal of such a request, I have limited his account. Richard has been warned in the past about derailing a conversation to serve his own personal political means at the expense of others and the site. The course of action I have taken was established at this meeting.

Richard's account has now been limited which requires moderator approval. It will take an agreement by consensus at our next meeting to reinstate Richard's account.

Hi,

After several reminders to keep it civil and not make personal attacks on the site, Justin Cozens just called somebody an idiot in this comment.

I spoke with two other moderators (Rachel Ayres and Kamilla Pietrzyk) and they agreed that Justin's account should be restricted.  He will no longer be able to post new content, and any comments he posts will need to be approved by a moderator before they're seen by the public.

This restriction can only be removed by a consensus decision at a London Commons meeting.
